Disable Windows automatic update for test duration

Microsoft Windows system has automatic updates enabled by default. This ensures that whenever there is new update on windows, your device will be automatically updated.

Why disable Windows automatic update for test duration?

To ensure a smooth testing experience without interruptions, we recommend that you manually disable the Windows Update service for the duration of your test. This precaution will help prevent any unexpected updates from disrupting your session.

How to disable windows automatic update?

Step 1: Open Services panel on your device by following these steps:

a) Press ‘Windows key + R’ and following pop-up will appear on your screen


b) In dialog box, type ‘services.msc’ (if not already populated by default) and then press ‘Enter’. Services tab will appear on top of your screen. 

Step 2:  Go to ‘Windows Update’. Right click on this service and select ‘Stop’ to disable automatic update

Post completion of your test:

Once you have completed your test, you can enable windows update following steps above and then clicking ‘Start on the service.
