Selecting On Screen Calculator
Mercer Mettl now allows test creators to enable an on-screen calculator and select the most suitable type—Basic Scientific Calculator or Advanced Scientific Calculator—at the assessment level. This ensures candidates have access to the appropriate calculation tool based on the complexity of the test.
Basic Scientific Calculator
The Basic Scientific Calculator is ideal for assessments requiring basic to intermediate mathematical functions. It includes:
- Arithmetic operations (+, –, ×, ÷)
- Square, square root, percentage, reciprocal
- Exponential function (e), parentheses, and memory functions
- Sign toggle (+/–) and simple scientific constants
This calculator as shown in the image below works well for subjects like general math, reasoning, and basic problem-solving.
Advanced Scientific Calculator
The Advanced Scientific Calculator supports a wide range of advanced mathematical and scientific operations. Key features include:
- Trigonometric and inverse functions (sin, cos, tan, sin⁻¹, etc.)
- Logarithmic and exponential operations (log, ln, exp, etc.)
- Power and root functions (x², x³, 10ˣ, xʸ, √x)
- Hyperbolic functions and factorials
- Degree/radian toggle
