How to create Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

Steps To add MCQ type questions:

  1. In your account, click on My Questions tab then click on Add Question button on top right side.



  1. Select the Question Type as Multiple Choice Question from the drop down options and provide a Topic Name in which the question is supposed to be added.

  1. A new screen opens, now you can write the question in the question text and then write the answer choice accordingly. Then select the correct answer by selecting the respective radio button. The question level can be selected as easy, medium and difficult from the dropdown. 

  1. In case you want to allocate marks for a partially correct answer MCQ, click on the Award Partial Marks  checkbox. Now you can allocate partial or full percentages to multiple options available in the question.
  2. You can now preview the added questions by clicking on the "Preview" button.



  1. Then, click on the 'SAVE' button to save the question in the respective Skill-Set / Topic.

Add MCQ questions in bulk

  1. To upload bulk questions onto the platform, log in to your account and click on the ‘My Questions’ tab. Once we are on the My Questions page, click on the upload arrow beside ‘Add Questions’ tab and download the bulk upload template for the relevant ‘Question Type.’





  1. You will now see a .xls file. The first sheet of the upload template is the ‘Instruction’ sheet which is a detailed manual that helps to navigate the upload template. In the format downloaded, type the questions along with the following information (in the MCQ sheet): 
  2. In the format downloaded, enter all your questions along with the following information(in the MCQ sheet):
  3. Topic: Enter the ‘Question Bank’ under which you want the question to be saved on the platform. Please note that one question can have only one topic name, however questions for varying topics can be uploaded simultaneously.(If the topic name already exists on the platform, the questions will be added to it. If the same does not exist, new topic will be created under “My Questions".) 
  4. Difficulty Level: Enter the appropriate difficulty level for the question (Easy, Medium, Difficult).
  5. Question Text: Enter the respective text of the question.
  6. Answer Choice 1: The first answer choice . 
  7. Answer Choice 2: The second answer choice 
  8. Answer Choice 3 (Optional): The third answer choice 
  9. Answer Choice 4 (Optional): The fourth answer choice. 
  10. Answer Choice 5 (Optional): The fifth answer choice.  
  11. Correct Answer: Enter the choice index for the option that is correct. (Ex: Choice 1 or Choice 2, etc.)  
  12. Answer Description (Optional): If you want the answer description to be a part of the report, enter the appropriate description. 

MCQ with Partial Grading: You can also allocate partial marks to multiple choices. In the format downloaded, enter all your questions along with the following information (in the MCQ with partial grading sheet):

  1. Topic: Enter the ‘Question Bank’ under which you want the question to be saved on the platform. Please note that one question can have only one topic name, however questions for varying topics can be uploaded simultaneously.
  2. Difficulty Level: Enter the appropriate difficulty level for the question (Easy, Medium, Difficult).
  3. Question Text: Enter the respective text of the question.
  4. Answer Choice 1: The first answer option.
  5. Answer Choice 2: The second answer option.
  6. Answer Choice 3 (Optional): The third answer option.
  7. Answer Choice 4 (Optional): The fourth answer option.
  8. Answer Choice 5 (Optional): The fifth answer option.
  9. Weightage (%) 1: Weightage to be assigned to the first option. 
  10. Weightage (%) 2: Weightage to be assigned to the second option. 
  11. Weightage (%) 3: (Optional): Weightage to be assigned to the third option. 
  12. Weightage (%) 4: (Optional): Weightage to be assigned to the fourth option. 
  13. Weightage (%) 5: (Optional): Weightage to be assigned to the fifth option. 
  14. Answer Description (Optional): If you want the answer description to be a part of the report, enter the appropriate description.

Please note, it is mandatory to assign 100% weightage to at least one of the options. Weightage for the other options can vary between 0-100% as required.

**The fields marked as ‘Optional’ are not mandatory and can be left blank. 

Note:
  1. In case there is any error in the file that is being uploaded, Platform will give an error file in which the error will be mentioned. Correct the mentioned error, in the original file (Do not use the error file) and upload again. 
  2. In case the error mentions “Invalid HTML Tags” Kindly replace all ‘<’ symbols with ‘&lt’ and ‘>’ symbols with ‘&gt’ for all question text and answer options and upload the file again. 
  3. All the text formatting, example: bold, italic, underline, sub-script, super-script, etc. Will be removed while uploading in bulk, this needs to be added later, on the platform for the required text. 

**Please ensure that if the fields marked as ‘Optional’ are not required, kindly leave it blank.
