Add new question on Mettl platform

Add new questions on Mercer | Mettl platform

At Mercer | Mettl, we can upload and use our own questions in the assigned account. We can upload the questions in either of the following ways: 

  1. Individual question upload
  2. Bulk upload using excel/CSV

Individual Question Upload:

To upload individual questions directly onto the platform, log in to your account and select ‘My Questions’ tab on the top left corner. Now, My Questions page will appear on the screen post that go to ‘Add Questions’ and select the ‘Question Type’ from the drop down. Mercer | Mettl Platform supports the following types of question-: 

  1. Knowledge Base Questions:
    1. Multiple Choice Questions
    2. Multiple Choice Answers 
    3. Short Answer Type Questions
    4. Fill in the Blank(s) Type Questions 
    5. Long Answer Type Questions
    6. File Upload as response
    7. Diagram Type Questions
  1. Application Based Question
    1. Code Snippet Question 
    2. App Development Question 
    3.  Database Query Question 
    4.  Frontend Coding Question 
    5. Case Study Question 
    6. Typing Simulator 
    7.  RStudio Question 
    8.  Audio Recording Question 
    9. Video Recording Question 
    10.  Project Based Question


  1. After selecting the relevant question type, select/create a new Topic Name. 


  1. After selecting All Question click on the dropdown and select New Group under which we have to create New Topic, which can be found on the left side bar on the ‘My Questions’ page. 



  1. For creating a Topic Name, please ensure the topic name must be unique. It also provides the feature of moving, renaming and deleting the topic(s). If a new topic is created, then we have to ensure that a unique name is given to every new topic.  
  2. To upload the questions in bulk, click on the left arrow, select upload from excel. Now, to upload general questions (MCQ, MCA etc), download the template.  









  1. We can also add multiple topics under one group.  
  2. To group different question banks, on the left-hand bar click on the arrow next to ‘All Questions’ and select ‘New Group’ from the dropdown and assign a unique name to it. Once the group is created, you can find the question bank that you want to move to this group and select ‘Move To’ from the dropdown by clicking on the arrow next to the topic name and selecting the relevant group name. 
  3. We can also add multiple topics under one group. 
  4. To create multiple topics under one group. On the left-hand side “All questions” is there. Click on the arrow next to “All Questions” and select “New Group” from the dropdown and assign a unique name. Now, select the left arrow of the created group and then click on the top right dropdown next to the new group created. Now, you can add the new topic accordingly.

Excel Bulk Upload:

To upload the questions in bulk, click on the left arrow, select upload from excel. Now, to upload general questions (MCQ, MCA etc), download the template. 






To upload the questions directly onto the platform, log in to your account and click on the ‘My Questions’ tab on the top left corner. Once we are on My Questions page, select the upload arrow beside ‘Add Questions’ tab. From the sub-menu, select "Get Template" mentioned under any of the question types, i.e. 

  1. General Questions
  2. Coding Questions
  3. DB query Questions
This will download an XLS file, containing the suggested format for bulk upload of questions.  Save the question and relevant question details in the template format and upload the .xls file onto the platform. 
 
Once the file is successfully uploaded, the question bank can be found on the left bar on the ‘My Questions’ page. Please note that the questions will be tagged according to the topic name provided in the template. We can also upload questions in bulk upload template simultaneously by providing a unique topic name in the template.
