The first sheet of the upload template is the ‘Instruction’ sheet which is detailed manual to help you navigate the upload template. All the necessary steps are laid out for easy understanding, we suggest that you refer it while using the template for the first time.


Add the details of each question in one row in the sheet corresponding to the question types you want to upload. Refer to the table below to fill detail of a Question.


Once you are done adding questions in the corresponding "Question type" sheets, simply upload this entire file on the Mettl.com. Contents of all other sheets will be ignored.

  • Multiple Choice Questions: All the MCQ type questions need to be entered in this sheet. It requires you to enter the following:

    • Topic: Enter the ‘Question Bank’ under which you want the question to be saved on the platform. Please note that one question can have only one topic name, however questions for varying topics can be uploaded simultaneously.

    • Difficulty Level: Enter the appropriate difficulty level for the question (Easy, Medium, Difficult).

    • Question Text: Enter the respective text of the question.

    • Answer Choice 1: The first answer option.

    • Answer Choice 2: The second answer option.

    • Answer Choice 3(Optional): The third answer option.

    • Answer Choice 4(Optional): The fourth answer option.

    • Answer Choice 5(Optional): The fifth answer option.

    • Correct Answer: Enter the choice index for the option that is correct. (Ex: Choice 1 or Choice 2, etc)

  •    Fill in The Blanks - All the Fill in The Blanks type questions need to be entered in this sheet. It requires you to enter the following.

    • Topic: Enter the ‘Question Bank’ under which you want the question to be saved on the platform. Please note that one question can have only one topic name, however questions for varying topics can be uploaded simultaneously.

    • Difficulty Level: Enter the appropriate difficulty level for the question (Easy, Medium, Difficult).

    • Question Text: Enter the respective text of the question. Wherever a blank is required type ‘#blank#’. (Ex:” _______ is the capital of India.” Will be entered as “#blank# is the capital of India.”). Please note that a question can contain multiple blanks.

    • Answers: Enter the correct answers. In case a question contains multiple blanks, enter the answers as comma separated in correct order.

    • Answer Description (Optional): If you want the answer description to be a part of the report, enter the appropriate description.

  •  Long Answer Questions (Auto Graded - Beta)-All the Long Answer type questions for auto grading need to be entered in this sheet. It requires you to enter the following:

    • Topic: Enter the ‘Question Bank’ under which you want the question to be saved on the platform. Please note that one question can have only one topic name, however questions for varying topics can be uploaded simultaneously.

    • Difficulty Level: Enter the appropriate difficulty level for the question (Easy, Medium, Difficult).

    • Question Text: Enter the respective text of the question.

    • Word Limit (Optional): Enter the word limit that needs to be defined.

    • Reference Text: Enter the text against which the candidate’s response will be scored.

    • Grammar Weightage: Enter weightage to be assigned for grammar.

    • Coherence Weightage: Enter weightage to be assigned for coherence with the topic.

    • Spelling Weightage: Enter weightage to be assigned for spelling correction.


Please note, assign weightage in such a way that the sum of options should be equal to 100%. Weightage for individual options can vary between 0-100% as required.
